The Primordial

Completed October 2024, I created this character for Abe Leal 3D’s Creatures Unleashed contest. I used Zbrush, Blender, Topogun, Substance Painter, and Photoshop. Rendered with Blender.

Character Backstory:
The Primordial aka the Timeless one, is an ancient Precursor being that existed for millions of years. The Precursors create life in the galaxy and changed physical forms based on their desires and lifestyles. They changed from living like animals to a hyper advanced race of beings to even plants. However, the Forerunners, the alien race that created the Halo rings betrayed the Precursors and lead a genocide against their creators. Some precursors fled to another galaxy, others hid on planets living among primitive alien civilizations or they took an immaterial form. However their most famous form is the Flood parasite seen in the halo games, the Primordial has connections to the flood.

To hide from the Forerunners, The Primordial mutated itself in order to survive for millions of years in a derelict asteroid. It barely resembles original Precursors. It was finally discovered by ancient humanity they interrogated it for answers on the Flood. Unfortunately, the words spoken from it drove the humans insane and was locked away. It was later released when a Forerunner Al named Mendicant Bias test fired a Halo on the planet it was imprisoned on. The firing released it from its prison and the Al soon went after it for questioning. Unfortunately, the Primordial convinced the Al to turn against the Forerunners. This event would seal the fate of the Forerunners and end their dominance over the galaxy. In its final days, a Forerunner commander named the Iso-Didact killed it by speeding time in its prison, aging it to death. However, its consciousness was transferred to the flood Gravemind, immortalized in the Flood’s compound mind.
